Jovial is a word meaning joyous, jolly, or cheerful. This beer from Troegs is aptly named, not just because I personally have a love of Belgian beers, but because all of the components of this beer will leave the drinker very merry.
The aroma is sweet, and spicey. Cinnamon and clove compliment the sweetness the way Belgian yeast can.
The appearance is easy on the eyes. A hazy, deep red, almost brown glass of delicious.
As the beer warms up the flavors really show up. Toffee, caramel and dates headline the flavor profile that’s bursting with ingredients. Each sip brings notes of something else, just like any good Belgian yeast allows.
The Mouthfeel of this beer is moderately heavy. As a bigger beer, a large malt bill adds some weight but it does not detract from the beauty of this brew.
Overall I find this beer complex and filled with layers. Every sip revealing another ingredient. Give this bottle a try.
